The
NASE Worldwide Difference
With NASE Worldwide, the actual job of teaching students is shared
both by the training agency and the instructor. It is the training
agency’s job to train safe, competent instructors and provide
them with student materials that are complete, professional, and
forward looking. Because the quality of instruction that a student
receives is dependent upon the preparedness and professionalism
of the instructor, NASE Worldwide instructors are given the latitude
to teach each course in the manner that best accomplishes the main
objective: training competent, safe divers. This is, of course,
while adhering to a set of standards and procedures set forth by
ANSI and other worldwide bodies for the recreational diving community.
WASI/NASE Worldwide Diver Development Centers are never pressured
into making large training material purchases from the certifying
agency just to maintain affiliation or attain an ambiguous status
level. You will never hear of a booking order from a NASE Worldwide
representative. Our goal is to make it easy and profitable for stores
and instructors alike to follow their own business plans - not one
the agency sets up.
Perhaps the best way to sum up the difference is that NASE Worldwide
believes the diver is a customer of the store - not the training
agency! We are there to support our members. This is why we never
sell, trade, or give the names of your divers to anyone! Not magazines,
not manufacturers, not your competition!
If you are a professional dive store, or
instructor, and these policies are attractive to you... contact
us so we can discuss your future with WASI/NASE Worldwide. If you
are a diver, or soon to be diver, and want to be trained by instructors
who can concentrate on your education, and tailor a course using
materials and policies that fit you, instead of a generic guideline...
seek out a NASE Worldwide store in your area.
NASE Worldwide History
NASE, the National Academy of Scuba Educators, was founded in 1982
in Lubbock, Texas. It was the concept of a group of diving enthusiasts
and business experts who identified a different approach to certification
agencies and their business practices. Some of the best ideas of
this fledgling forerunner of NASE Worldwide remain with us today.
In 1991 NASE became a voting member of ANSI. ANSI sets the standards
for recreational scuba training in the United States. The RSTC later
became a secretariat to ANSI, responsible for making standards recommendations
for adoption by the recreational diving community. NASE Worldwide
adheres strictly to the standards as published by ANSI.
Throughout the mid 1990's NASE stayed progressive by being one of
the first agencies to stop buddy breathing exercises due to health
and safety reasons, and was one of the first recreational agencies
to embrace the use of Nitrox during diver training programs.
In 1999 NASE Worldwide was formed as an entirely new and forward
looking scuba training agency, bringing together some of the ideas
and principles created by NASE and a new training agency, the World
Association of Scuba Instructors. WASI was established in 1996 in
Salt Lake City, Utah. At that time new standards were adopted for
NASE Worldwide taking the very best ideas established by both NASE
and WASI. During the process, new and modern training materials
were developed for our members use, setting NASE Worldwide apart
as a new leader in scuba education.
In 2000, NASE Worldwide became the first Scuba Training Agency to
begin investigating the suitability of C-card processing on the
web for their instructors and member dive shops. Today, over thirty
percent of our certification cards are processed over the internet,
at a great savings to both our members and the agency.
In 2001 NASE Worldwide became the first recreational scuba education
agency to receive the prestigious accreditation in Europe by the
United Kingdom’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Today, NASE Worldwide has a vast and growing membership throughout
the world, scuba professionals and dive shops that recognize the
value of a training agency, with a worldwide presence that works
for them.
If you are a scuba professional ready to enter the future of scuba
training, NASE Worldwide can be for you!
